"The Swamp Run"

The day was a good as good can get.  The sun was out and it was truly a great spring day.  The signin started slow, but by 11:30 there were few parking spots left.  We pulled out of the Knights and were told that the bikes were still pulling out of the Knights while the head bikes were around the corner to the first traffic light.  Dunellen Police were at the intersections to ensure that we got out of town in one group.  We were soon met by Green Brook Police who also helped us get to Route 22.  Route 22 was temporarily shutdown while the line of bikes proceeded onto the highway.  Only on the highway for a short distance, we headed up into the Watchung Hills for a perfect day of riding.  The ride went through some very picturesque country and eventually made our way to the Great Swamp.  The 1000 feet of gravel road was much more dusty than it had during the three weeks of testing the route. however, we all ate a little dust, but came out onto blacktop once again.   Twisting around the Great Swamp was a nice relaxing ride, but this was only the beginning.  There were times when you could see back for more than a mile and there were bikes as far as you can see.  After finishing the ride around the swamp, we ventured down to the first of the Watchung Hills where you can see the Atlantic Highlands on a clear day.  The view was superb!  After trekking for a few miles across the top edge of the Watchungs, we worked our way back down and inland a little before headed for the next surprise.  a short ride from there was Washington Rock where the view was incredible.  The group worked there way down the mountain and back to the Knights for some food & drink.  Upon the arrival to the Knights, the band was warming up and the food was being placed out.  We all ate some food, and had a great time listening to the music.  The 50/50 and  door prizes went over very well and everyone once again left the event with some sort of goodie.

New Jersey Motorcycle Events would like to thank the Road Captain of Old-timers MC and their traffic group for the great traffic control, I must also add the guys from Trike Master's MC who also helped out,  the Knights of Columbus for their support and use of the facilities, the liquor vendors of the Knights for their donations, and Jack Daniel's for their continuing support.  Thanks to the Dunellen Police and Greenbrook Police for their help in getting us on the road.  We would also like to put out a special thank you to SPOKES for their kind donation and the group presentation which was just super!

The funds generated by the ride will be donated to the local organizations that work with the mentally challenged.  We appreciate the support of all of those riders who came to share their day with us.
